The Life and Risk Management Board Committee’s 2010 strategic objectives are to:

raise awareness of underinsurance and improve access to appropriate levels of affordable life insurance cover;

Marketing and Distribution Board Committee
This Committee has responsibility for developing IFSA's strategies and policies in relation to both wholesale and retail marketing and distribution.
Issues covered by this Committee include the promotion of the industry to investors and the broad community, the development of special research studies into investor behaviour, statistical data collection, the development and promotion of relevant IFSA Standards and Guidance Notes, specific issues of interest to consumers, such as fees and charges, privacy and advertising.

Regulatory Affairs Board Committee
|
The Regulatory Affairs Board Committee has a responsibility for developing IFSA's strategies and policies on regulatory issues impacting on the Financial Services Industry and oversees the operation and development of legislative regulatory policy in the Corporations Act, Life Insurance Act, Superannuation Industry (Supervision) Act and the AML Act.
The Regulatory Affairs Board Committee also has responsibility for oversight of IFSA's relationships with Treasury (Cth) and each of the financial services regulators APRA, ASIC and AUSTRAC

Investment Board Committee
This Committee has responsibility for developing IFSA’s strategies and policies in relation to investment management and capital markets. The committee has oversight of IFSA’s relationship with the Australian Stock Exchange, the Sydney Futures Exchange, the Australian Institute of Company Directors, the accounting bodies, the Takeovers Panel, the Financial Reporting Council, and the Australian Securities and Investment Commission (ASIC) in relation to markets matters.

Financial Advisory Network Board Committee
This Committee has responsibility for the development of IFSA’s strategies and policies in relation to advice and, in particular, Financial Advisory Networks, promoting the financial adequacy of all Australians through access to good financial advice; demonstrating the value of advice; promoting integrity through industry standards; and promoting the importance and value of FANs in delivering good advice.
In pursuing these objectives, the Board Committee is committed to ensuring quality outcomes for the industry and consumers, and having regard to the economic impact on FANs.
This committee also has responsibility for oversight of IFSA’s relationship with government, government departments and regulators on the regulation of Financial Advisory Networks, as well as primary responsibility for liaison with the Financial Planning Association (FPA), in order to advance the quality of advice within the Australian community.

This Committee is responsible for developing IFSA’s strategies and policies to support the growth of Australia’s domestic funds management market and services capability off shore. The Committee will concentrate on the positioning of funds management and financial services in unilateral, bilateral and multilateral trade and taxation negotiations; and promoting the competency, capability and integrity of Australian fund managers and financial service providers internationally.
The Committee also has responsibility for oversight of IFSA’s relationship with Treasury, DFAT (including Austrade), ATO, Board of Tax, ASIC, APRA, ASX and policy makers and parliamentary committees in relation to export market opportunities.
